The Challenge Our client, a busy executive entering a new chapter in life, purchased a Milton home defined by its original cedar architecture. While the bones were solid, the interior was a heavy, monochromatic sea of brown. Every wall, floor, and door felt anchored in the past. He needed a space that felt modern and sophisticated—a place designed for high-end entertaining that didn't feel like a kitschy mountain lodge

Our Design Vision

A Bourbon Speakeasy

We aimed to honor the home’s history without being held hostage by it. Moving past generic Pinterest trends, we implemented an "Upscale Bourbon Speakeasy" aesthetic. By streamlining a thousand overwhelming choices into three curated, high-function options, we solved the primary layout friction: engineering a floor plan that provides sophisticated seating for eight while ensuring a seamless, open path through the home.

A Reimagined Wood-burning Fireplace

Once a dated brick eyesore, we transformed the wood-burning fireplace into a reimagined, modern work of art using a custom tile ombre effect. To balance the original cedar, we layered in "jealousy-inducing" textures — deep velvet sofas, rugged leather chairs, and custom hide rugs — to create a moody, masculine retreat from the corporate world.

A Masculine Retreat For a Modern Executive

Today, every guest who enters the home has the same reaction: immediate awe. The space honors the warmth of the cedar while standing firmly in the present.
